Why not? Because Maria handled it beautifully! (IMHO) That's the way the vast bulk of profanity should be handled. Of course a's comment is offensive. But many things in life are offensive, and the possibility that life after Y2K will be MORE offensive needs to be dealt with. (Again, IMHO) Obscenity and vitriol are facts of life. And dealing with them has become part of this experiment in community. Again, if the movement for folks to abandon the larger forum to discuss things without the trollery somewhere else works out, that's great. I still think that limiting the existing forum by deleting silly (and yes, profane, but so what?) comments like these is going to cause more trouble than it's worth. I can just see what Y2K Pro etc. will do if stuff starts disappearing. The idea is to give them less ammunition, not more...

Somewhere on the Forum general set-up we read a request for no obscenities and a warning they would be deleted. Think maybe those warnings should be enforced.

Just an observation -- ever since somebody put a 'no obscenities' request up, the trolls have been testing the limits and cursing more, lots more F and 4-letter words.

Give them a hint of what irks ya and they'll run run run run with it. Nauseating.

Agree with pshannon that deleting will send them into a reaction-feeding frenzy, so maybe the deletion should be as quiet as possible?

Maybe no "[ Content edited for vulgarity ]" notations on threads. No hints that anything has been changed! Most regulars won't notice a thing, the disgusting drivel won't drive ppl off or embarrass the rest of us, it'll still be family-friendly, and
