While I support our 2nd Amendment rights, if one is buying a firearm for Y2K, it may well be the person has never owned a firearm before.

However,last week,we had an salutory essay on the difficulty of defending a fixed position against a determined attack..especially from concealed sniper attack.

Two excellent non-lethal Y2K defense weapons!
If I hit them with the water gun, I won't need the laser pointer. However, I'm going to hit them withmy SKS or my Mossberg 12 guagefirst, that way I know they won't be back to bug me.

But I do want to get some opinions on close-range non-lethal weapons for tight quarters situations where a gun is too slow and unwieldly to be as effective as a well-placed fist or foot.

Even with guns how can we defend our urban home against looters&mauraders?
Some of us are absolutly forced to stay in mid-sized cities. If stuff gets really bad what can we do to defend our home against bands of looters and maurauders?

Can we legally be forced against our will to a public shelter or camp, and is this likely to be attempted ?
