Failed Sedgwick Controller

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

I have a 1988 Sedgwick elevator in my house. The omron programmable controler unit was fried by an electrical strike and is now non-functional.

I've tried to find replacement units with a few local Atlanta companies but have had no luck.

Can anyone recommed a good way to get my elevator back up and running? Are replacement controllers available for the sedgwick? Can it be replaced with another company's controller?

Thanks for any tips.

Yes, your controller can be fixed. Likely you have an Omron S6 PLC. You may get lucky and find the Omron S6 on Ebay, and may be able to move the Eprom from the old to the new one. If not the program is pretty stright forward and another PLC like a Direct Logic DL-06 could be adapted to the system with not much fuss.

BTW Fred, dont let the memory unit on the PLC out of your sight!! The PLC program is stored on a chip in a small box that fits into the left side of the face of the PLC. It is very likely that the program is still ok.
