Motor Gen set output voltage

i am curious as to the basic output voltage of a mg set dc end in a typical elevator system and is it 3 phase like the ac imput side and also does it differ when a scr drive is used

The m-g set can have any necessary Vdc output rating as required to satisfy the DC lift motor. The Vdc rating is an independant design choice from the utility side Vac required for the AC induction motor driving the generator. By definition, the generator supplies DC and needs only 2 output wires.

When an SCR drive is used for replacement of an existing m-g set an input transformer may be necessary to help convert the available building utility voltage to a level more useful to that of the SCR drive and DC motor. DonV
