felt wick lubricator

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

I'm looking to get a felt wick lubricator and I'm wondering if anyone out there has any suggestion on what brand, type, etc, that I should look into. Also if anyone has had a bad experience with any particular lubricator, a warning would be appreciated. Thanks

The best company to buy one is PSI because they have a combination rope cleaner and lubricator, many other co sell just lubricator. The cleaner is a special pattern wire brushes that cleans from both sides. Some hoist ropes look like black hoses due to guys putting carpets and packing the building dirt and lube into ropes.Your local inspector should not permit this because how can someone inspect a rope if he cant see a rope. A word of warning on high speed jobs try and install the unit on the rear side of machine so you dont get black rope tar from cleaning transfered to the hatch sills and then transfer to the bldg carpets. Also put cardboard under cleaner with a slot cutout for ropes to catch as much tar as possible and cardboard on floor around work area. Also clean the brushes often at first.Hoist rope lubrication is important and with combo cleaner and luber ropes can last 10 times as long and look like new. After done then get torque tester and check rope tension.
