Heard rumor from Kone salesmen in Florida that Schindler US is trying to purchase Kone in North America, let me know if anyone else has heard this?

It was mentioned in our local Schindler office last week that Schindler recently purchased Kone in SOUTH America. True? Who knows. Might just be the start. 6 months ago I heard Kone was going to buy Schindler. Aren't rumors funny? The number of companies is certainly shrinking, so be careful of burning bridges. Mark

I seriously doubt, that Schindler, OTIS or any other single elevator company has the resources to purchase KONE as a company outright. They may well sell off small non-profitable divisions within the company, but rumours have to be put into perspective here. OTIS, KONE, Schindler & Thyssen are massive companies on a world wide basis. They all may sell off relatively small sections of their buisness from time to time, but that is a trend of all successfull businesses. If one of these companies were to sell up lock stock & barrell, it would be most likely that there would be several purchasers, or a single purchaser from outside of this industry. Kone on a world wide basis are probably as big as Schindler. OTIS may well be the biggest company by far, but I think a single one off purchase of a company the size of KONE may well too much for UT to consider without breaking it up & selling it off again in smaller batches. That said, why would KONE or any other major player sell off their business when it remains very profitable. Non profitable areas may well go in any business but don't take rumours of a mass KONE sell out too seriously. I may be wrong, but I doubt it, we have heard all these rumours many times before.

ThyssenKrupp purchased Kone's South American operations last year, but as of today Schindler will be taking over Kone North America. At least thats what the Schindler people are saying...

My husband works for one of these companies, his boss said that Schindler did indeed purchase KONE today, but we cannot confirm it- anyone know how I can find out for sure?

Schindler did NOT purchase KONE as was thought. So, end to that one for now!
