How come we're not on the active board?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

We get tossed off the active board if we don't have enough new postings, but we have three that show up on my screen, so why aren't we on the active board? Any ideas anyone?

Answers

Hey there Tricia!

My understanding that there needs to be 7 within a week to stay active!

Guess we have been remiss! Let's see if we can't fix that!

What say all???

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), June 25, 2003.

I dunno.

-- Robert & Jean Cook (RobertCook@GA.herewith Lon), June 25, 2003.

Sorry, I am pre-occupied at the moment, but I will check in more often to help you stay active. Oh dear that is so boring.

-- Carol (c@oz.com), June 26, 2003.

I'm not sure if I have missed any posts. I sincerely hope that someone has heard some good news about Gayla's sister. I do hope she is alright.

-- Carol (c@oz.com), June 26, 2003.

Carol, I haven't heard a word from Gayla for quite a while now. I think they were moving back to Houston, and then as you say, her sister was ill. Life has a way of interfering with being on line.

Not much from Lon lately either. I sure hope our Texan contingent feels the love we send their way!

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), June 26, 2003.

*Gayla feels that love and pops in to post.* :-)

My sister ended up having a 5-part bypass. I don't know what you call the step above a quadruple. (One of the arteries branches into 2 parts and both were bad.) The doctor who operated on her said she was lucky to be alive. Her recovery is going very well, but she's afraid to be by herself (they say that is pretty common) so someone is having to stay with her all of the time.

Yes, we're moving, and things are extremely hectic. It's always something. ;-)

Hugs to all!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), June 26, 2003.

Quintriplequadruple bypass?

(Sounds like a Houston interstate intersection .... but probably more expensive!)

-- Robert & Jean Cook (RobertCook@GA.herewith Lon), June 26, 2003.

Thankyou for posting Gayla. I am very relieved to read that your sister is doing well. That sounds like a very big operation to get over, mentally and physically. I hope your move goes well and you are soon settled again.

Robert, I hope you had a very relaxing and happy holiday.

Tricia, I hope things are going well for you and I trust that Lon knows how many people are thinking of him and all the sadness in his life just now. It makes ones own little problems seem terribly insignificant.

-- Carol (c@oz.com), June 27, 2003.

Will it help if I post something without any intellectual or artistic merit?

-- Gene (notmehere@nowhere.huh), June 28, 2003.

BTW,

What does it mean to "bag some people" at a Michael Jackson site? And why would anyone want to go there in the first place?

-- Gene (notmehere@nowhere.huh), June 28, 2003.

That one? ....

Heck if I know .... Maybe some other body part is falling off?

-- Robert & Jean Cook (RobertCook@GA.herewith Lon), June 30, 2003.

(((Gayla)))

It's called a quintuple by-pass. My dad had one in 1986 and it made a huge difference in his ability to enjoy life again. However, he didn't make any changes in his (non-existent) exercise regimen and dietary changes alone are insufficient. I hope your sister is smarter. I tried to encourage my brother to change his diet and his exercise, but not with a lot of success. What I was telling him was not as easy as taking the pills his doctor prescribed - more effective, but then I'm not a doctor, I'm just a little sister :-(

I hope your move is going well! We helped my sister move today. Now I've found some muscles that have been hibernating ;-) Thanks for popping, Gayla - we're still sending love and prayers for you and yours.

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), July 01, 2003.

I'll second that Gayla~! Hugs and prayers to you during this time. I just HATE moving, but you're probably a pro at it! Just like everything else!!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), July 02, 2003.

Posting from home (finally). So sorry to hear that Gayla's sis is so sick, and even sorrier to hear she's moving and I haven't met her yet! ACK!

(((FRL)))

-- helen (this_a_real_address@yahoo.com), July 02, 2003.

Back online from home, finally. I thought I posted this already. Maybe things aren't fixed yet.

Hope Gayla's sis and Lon's family are doing better, and hugs to all of FRL. :)

-- helen (this_a_real_address@yahoo.com), July 03, 2003.

Thanks ((((((all of you))))))!

We're back in Houston. Tricia, I don't need a massage, I need a chiropractor! ;-)

Carol, you're such a sweetie! I'm glad you joined our little FRLian group!

Aunt Bee, I'm not a pro at much. Just good at acting like one. LOL!

Robert, with the cost of cement these days, it's a toss-up.

Gene, good to see you posting!

Helen, glad to see you're able to post from home again. As Arnold said in Terminator 3, "She'll be back". :-D

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), July 03, 2003.

Helen, disregard my question on the other thread. I should have read THIS one first (silly me!). Glad to hear you're finally back in the swing of things at home! Glad too, we made it back to the active board!!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), July 03, 2003.

Thank you Gayla. You've made my day.

Time to bump up the posts number, so they don't dump us, yet again! I know Tricia is off enjoying the beauty of Canada and the PNW for awhile. I know too, that Lon and Kit are being their adventursome selves, and heading back home from Colorado these days! I'll be taking off next Monday, fudge in hand, to meet up with Tricia :))). So it's gonna be up to the rest y'all to do at least seven posts, or something like that, just to keep us active! So HELP, ifn ya can!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), July 21, 2003.

Does anyone remember LL? Love Hatti

-- ant kicker (123@456.com), July 22, 2003.

Bump!

Hatti

-- ant kicker (123@456.com), July 22, 2003.

Aunt Bee, I hope you and Tricia have a terrific time together.

-- Carol (c@oz.com), July 22, 2003.

Thanks Carol~!

I'm sure we'll have a blast in our short time together! I'll keep ya posted! I have so much to do between now and then, including making a fresh batch of fudge to take with, and I'm hoping I have time for cherry vanilla cookies! I have to wait until the last minute to bake them because the humidity is so high now, what with the monsoons invading us these days.

I only have five days before I take off to the cool PNW, so pardon me if I am not around much, although it looks as though no one has been in these parts lately!

I do hope we don't slip back into the inactive board...

Chocolatey hugs to each of you!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), July 22, 2003.

-- writeabook (123@456.com), July 23, 2003.

I wish I could be there to meet you both and eat chocolate too ;-) Have a great time together! I'll pop by here more often and do a bump.

-- (sonofdust@ump.one), July 23, 2003.

Lon, dear one, you know we will be toasting you, and all the other FRLians at lunchtime, come next Monday! Heck, ifn it weren't for this lil speck of sacred space, Tricia and me wouldn't even get the chance to meet ya know?

Mebbe we can even send ya a pic or two, if ya like! Being as how you have shared your wonderful adventures on the road and all, that would only be right, ya know! Then you can see my old saggy, lumpy self in the flesh, sotaspeak!

I'm thinking MSN has that feature where one can set up a board, just for pix and folks ya trust can check in. Whaddya think about that idea? You guys think that's something you would like? I believe it is perfectly doable, if folks are interested!

In the meantime, Tricia is travelling, and kinda incognito for now, cuz her borrowed puter has some limitations. But she promised she would check in soon, so the rest of youse guys will just hafta hang in there, knowing she is thinking of you, and wishing she could be here.

I know in my heart, we will soon hear the sweet sound of her haiku! Patience my friends, patience!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), July 24, 2003.

Thanks for thinking of us when you meet! That'll be great if you can toast us too. Just make sure to keep an eye on that there toaster, cause I had a toast fly up outta one once. That might of been the last time Dear Mrs. Michaels let me in the kitchen.

... and please don't spread any butter on me while I'm toast (It might drip and stain my really bright red socks ;-)

Thanks.

-- (sonofdust@bump.two), July 24, 2003.

Mike Mule wishes to convey his deepest, greenest envy regarding your bright red socks.

-- helen (handling@onery.mule), July 24, 2003.

Damp earth scents wafting

Green leaves growing, bugs humming

Nature communing.

A haiku for the kind person who called my haiku sweet :-)

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), July 25, 2003.

Tricia, did I ever tell you how much I enjoy your Haikus? I remember when you first started trying, and just look at you now. You have become the FRLian FIRST Haikueress! Thanks, and keep 'em coming!

Uh, I know you're busy and all, but could you write a Haiku for me too?.

Please?

Pretty please?

Pretty please with chocolate fudge and marshmellow and nuts amd uh, and sprinkles?

-- (sonofdust@nice.haiku), July 26, 2003.

I'll even write one for that reward! :-D

Scorching summer sun

Cool raindrops begin to fall

The ground rejoices!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), July 26, 2003.

Thanks Gayla! That was refreshing LOL ;-)

Summer's gentle breeze

makes the tree tops dance and sway...

rain washes the Earth.

-- (sonofdust@summer.haiku), July 26, 2003.

Thanks for the kind words Rob! They're really all that's needed (since Aunt Bee kindly supplied the fudge ;-)

.

Burning orange ball

Drops slowly to the ocean

Amid rainbow hues.

.

Cloudless sky darkens

Bright coral fades to navy

Another day's ending.

.

There, you even get two for the price of one! Imagine that! :-)

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), July 30, 2003.

Wow, they were goooooood Haikus. Wonder what you'd write if you were here on the Right Coast ;-) Thanks!

Well, I've got my Haiku fix, so now for some chocolate. Oooooooo, That fudge sure sounds good. Wonder how I might be able to get some....

Hmmmm....

poopie.

-- (sonofdust@thankful.rob), July 30, 2003.

Fudge, did someone say fudge?? I thought I heard my name being whispered... Dang, got back late Sunday and come back here today to find we are cloaked again! Ok by me.

Just so you know, as Tricia and I and her two beautiful daughters lunched alfresco looking over the Puget Sound, dining on sweet crab and wonderful clam chowder, (not to mention the delicious warm loaves of sourdough slathered with butter), we laughed talked about each of you, and wished you were there!

It was a delightful time!

But we had to refuse desert, because the walnut fudge was whispering to Tricia! As a bonus, I got pictures of the two of us, and her lovely daughters!

There, how is that for an update??

Now if only we could ALL get together! One day, I tell myself, it will happen!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), August 12, 2003.

You talked about EACH of usw? Really?

Whatdya say 'bout me? Huh?

Tell me! PLease?

HUH?

Aw C'mon, tell me pretty please? Preety please with uh, with uh, uh OOOOoooo marshmellows and hot fudge on top?

-- (sonofdust@wants.toknow), August 12, 2003.

Rob, I think we said you were nuts (in the nicest sort of way! ;-) Of course we also wished we could see your really bright red socks and wondered where we'd have to arrange a meet so that we could have more than just two of us there. Any suggestions? Any time preferences?

Oh, and I nearly forgot - Aunt Bee's fudge is at least as good as you've all been imagining! (Neener, neener)

-- Tricia the Canuck (jayles@telusplanet.net), August 17, 2003.

Tricia, shame on you for needling poor Rob! He just really wanted to be there, snooping into our girls conversation ya know!

I thought we decided we weren't gonna tell! Musta been the essence of sea water in our brains combined with the luscious, succulent seafood we consumed that changed our perspective!~

All for the good of FRL of course!

As for the neener neener on the fudge, LOL! and glad ya liked it! I am taking orders for Christmas deliveries, and Robert Cook is at the top of my list! I do intend to make my promise to him come true this year!

Any others having wishes in that direction, feel free to e me your addy. Mine is real.

Oh, and I only have really bright GREEN socks, just for the record!

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), August 18, 2003.

Thank you both. It's nice to know you think I'm nuts.

You're right.

Don't know about getting together, but the way I figure it, the longer we're together HERE, the better chance that we'll actually have of really meeting one day. And I would like that very much. THe only person I ever met from our FRL friends was GreyBear. And I can tell you that I am truly convinced that he was impressed with my really bright red socks.

-- (sonofdust@nuts.forever), August 18, 2003.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright!

Fudge!

-- Robert & Jean Cook (RobertCook@GA.herewith Lon), August 20, 2003.

I wanna be on the Christmas fudge list!!!! I'll even send money!

Helen, did I see somewhere that you said no more theater? Does that mean what I think? (I still have the same email address if you want to respond there.)

I'm glad you guys got to meet. We really enjoyed our time with Tricia and her hubby. Hopefully we will get to see them again. I would like to meet ALL of you, and as soon as I get my daughter out of college (this is the LAST year!) I'll have a lot more money for travel. LOL! Maybe I can even go see Carol! :-)

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), August 21, 2003.

OK.

Gayla, you send me money for the Christmas fudge list.

Aunt Bee, you send me the fudge.

See?

It all works out even.

-- Robert & Jean Cook (RobertCook@GA.herewith Lon), August 21, 2003.

You'd be welcome here anytime Gayla. And yes there is life and a bit of extra cash once you finish educating the young'uns. There is also the pleasure of seeing them settled into a career they enjoy.
