does anyone know the life expectancy of a miprom 21 controller, also the same for mac door equipment. either in years or operations. thanks

Answers

Too many variables to be able to put out any definitive numbers.

Controllers are generally replaced due to technical obsolence rather than "old age" or "wearing out".

Door operators can be repaired indefinitely, but sometimes the wear is so wide spread that it is less expensive to replace. In really heavy use, I've seen door operators worn this badly in less than seven years. Of course, if proper maintenance is done and parts are replaced as necessary, this should not happen.

the miprom 21 was suppose to be replaced by a controller called the st. it is a gaerless ac machine. the miprom 21 has very few moving parts as in relays but in all a decent controller the 208 machine on the other hand leaks.... keep your drive clean fans ect. it runs better than some t-4s i got

montgomery's megatech line has been a good product, which when given good service will run practically trouble free. kone seems to want to replace the miprom 21 system with a developed product that uses more of kone technology. this in part may be due to the expense necessary to upgrade the 21 to changing code requirements. this may in time make replacement parts a concern.....

Montgomery's miprom controllers have a some what long and respected history. From thier hydros to their 6010's and into their Megatech line they have performed exceptionally well. I have jobs that have gone years and years without a single miprom malfunction. The miprom 21 seems to be even better due to the fact that most of it is low voltage, thus extending the life. The MAC door operators perform just as well and the inception of the 104 board provided even better control and performance. Of course everything comes down to what John stated earlier, proper maintenance is the key.
