Ascension 2000 control problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

We have a U.S. Elevator with an Ascension 2000 control system in our two-story building. Every four weeks like clockwork we have to call Thyssen Elevator to come out and reset the releveling counter.

This has been going on for 18 months now and we are fed up. We would like to know if there are any other elevator owners, operators or technicians out there who have a similar problem. This elevator gets very little use except for deliveries to the second floor restaurant. Thyssen is completely uncooperative and insists on pushing their service plan at us.

We are ready to take some action. If anybody else is out there who can provide some details of their experiences with the Ascension 2000 control please e-mail us.

Ascension 2000

If you look about way up in this discussion board, you will find someone posted a little patch, at least to get you less time between calls. This really looks like a proprietary scam to force you to buy maintenance contract from installer. Yuor options are limited to only the installer no matter what price they want to charge or you must replace the control system, this will cost you as much as the elevator did. I guess Thyssen can't sell elevator contracts based on merit anymore, they have to force them on you. Of course proprietary elevator equipment is the best thing to happen to the small independent company, you will nor your friends will ever buy one of these again.

It seems possible that the elevator is releveling excessively, perhaps due to a leak in the system somewhere?

If so, the problem needs to be corrected to eliminate the excessive relevels instead of just resetting the counter.
