What is the average time a person spends on an ELEVATOR and are there any articles or studies on this???

I don't think you could have a meaningful overall average. The time would depend on the nature of the building, the time of day, etc.

An average could be calculated for any given situation. Many Elevator Traffic Analysis procedures include computing a "Passenger Time" or "Riding Time" which is defined as the elapsed time from pushing the call button to arrival at destination. This time should not exceed two minutes as an absolute maximum.
