for more than 7 months i have read and learned a lot here. but after the latest round of attacks, i am done. i cannot believe the pollies were right when they said YOU were the real bad guys, but changing someone's words to make them mean something else? how low can you go? this low, apparently. i guess you couldn't beat 'em in a fair fight, so you had to chnage the rules so you could win.

Don't be too hard on them - they could not produce any evidence supporting the meme, and the inevitable outcome of any thinking being (this includes most doomers) was to either resort to some sort of fascism to maintain the meme's spotlight in the forum, or to wake up and admit that they were wrong about Y2k. It's a tough situation to find one's self in, and they no doubt opted for Plan A.

I'm somewhat new to this forum (just a couple of weeks) and I don't know many of the players. From whom are asking for evidence to support their views? Clearly, there is plenty of evidence (by the veritable truck load) to clarify the dangers we all face(i.e. oil, distribution, foreign supply, etc.)

I assume you surely must have been reading in depth the various oil company 10-Q reports, among other specifics. So, provided this is a valid assumption, exactly what is it you're having trouble comprehending?

I , also, have been lurking for about the same length time ( 7 or 8 months) and like you, I have learned a lot from the people who are more computer literate than I will ever be. Learned a lot about how the stock market works and I benefited from the hot links and the information sources that were made available.But now, it seems that the individuals who were the most informative have left the building. I miss them. Now, I scan the extraordinary number of postings to try and find just ONE posting that contains something of value. Perhaps, the "old regulars" feel that they have done all that they can do, there is really nothing more to be said....we are in the waiting stage... I do find myself popping in here less and less. I find little of value and more opinions than facts. This was not the case previously. I wonder where the "old regulars" went ? Sure do wish they had left a forwarding address when they moved.

Actually, it was a rather large compliment to have my words reversed thus - it is the most pronounced evidence to date that the doomers realise their need for new meme (this one having died), and since they can no longer argue logically (much less civilly), they have taken to fascist censorship and un-annoted edits to "prove" their points. Very mature, actually; and apparently accomplishing my goals for me in the process.

Read carefully before making such foolish comments. I am new to THIS forum (it is not the only good site for information), not Y2K.

My previous message was an insult to Mr. Green Pen (aka Andy Ray), not a query for information.

I have been studying (and managing Y2K projects) for several years (mainframe, midrange and client-server) and have been in systems development and project management for 22 years. I have hoped to contribute some knowledge and experience to this forum, which I have when time has permitted.

I hope someone is archiving their posts over there - someday it'll make a wonderful case study for abnormal psychology, theirs.

These are the people that our society should be concerned about, they have NO CLUE as to how to interact PEACEABLY, or work for the common good.

Ever notice how when someone points out that both Doomers, Trolls & Pollies have been effected by the new policy, there's never a Troll response? Ever notice how when you ask a Troll a logical, rational, POLITE question, the question is IGNORED?

The reality is that the Trolls are socially inept, rejected by all of humanity, rightly or wrongly, when they were young. This rejection has warped their perception of life, and their goal has become that of revenge, on all they meet, to "make up" for their earlier suffering. It's a shame, really, making other innocent people suffer won't help heal the Trolls' emotional scars. Hatred's cost is too high to be used as an effective tool.

IMNSHO, Andy Ray had already overstayed her welcome before she posted detailed instructions on the Debunking Y2k forum several months ago about how to use HTML code to crash this board. I don't know why that wasn't the final straw for losing her privilege to post here, but I support the decisions of the unpaid, hard-working sysops. The sysops have, in my opinion, been more than tolerant of trolls like Andy Ray. They went so far in their efforts to be fair to her that they deleted a number of posts that contained no profanity or personal attacks on Andy Ray, but merely countered her trollism by mimicking her.

As far as the original premise of this thread (posted by "not lurking here anymore"), sorry you feel that way. Too bad you had to use namecalling to make your point, though. Buh bye.

It is common in human communications to use misdirection and obfuscation when one's arguments fail to again acceptance or remain debatable..."shoot the messenger," is a form of that. The so-called censorship fiasco here is misdirection, plain and simple. There is no need for reasonable people to be put off by those behaving in trollish and childish ways. Ignore them. They hate to be ignored, and they thrive on being called names (I'll refrain at this time from mentioning the psychological damage that causes this). Allow the moderators/sysops to do their jobs as given to them.
