9,000 Purple Hearts Ordered

This may be our propaganda mill at work but if just one of them is used for our military in Kosovo it will be a sad day.

Ray,

they normally order these things in batches, this is nothing unusual... I once knew a guy who was awarded a PH that had actually been struck (made) when he was in elementary school... the newspaper article is reading w-a-y too much into this, IMHO.

Maybe it's because they know they won't be able to get them next year :-)

This is driving me crazy.....What does IMHO stand for ? ?

I got the GI, DGI, DWGI,...but I just can't figure this one out.

I really enjoy everyone here ( well everyone except the pollys and trolls !) Good luck and keep watching for signs of INVAR to show back up.

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

Start worrying when they order that many flags.

I just heard on the radio that a defense department official responded to this news by stating that the 9000 purple hearts were for replacement purposes - for veterans who had lost their original issue medals.

They ought to order 9000 cruise missiles to replace the ones we used up on tractors and other strategic threats.

Here's another thread about the 90000 troops.......

Also, purple hearts are kept in jewelry boxes on the left middle drawer of the dresser (along with Boy Scout badges). Vets don't stick 'em in their fishin caps or something.

Looks like somebody's just assuming a 10% injury rate.......

My little girl wears mine around the house and everywhere she goes!!!

I believe if one of these 9,000 Purple Hearts are used as a result of actions in Kosovo it will be one to many.

Doug -- ROFLMAO. Yes. Exactly. But even if they do, will they be ready if/when/where we REALLY need them?

-- BigDog (BigDog@duffer.com), May 28, 1999.

This was discussed on our local news tonight in Houston. The company which makes the Purple Heart Medal (Tomball, Texas) is just northwest of Houston. According to the report, the military is just replenishing their stock. The last order? 37,000 in 1991. Can you say "Gulf War?" DUH!
