Hello...!??!! Hasn't our darling Pres heard about the War Powers Act of 1973? (Didn't he support impeachment of Nixon, partly on the grounds of Nixon's proported abuse of his Constitutional power re: the military?) Any pretense about this military adventure being Constitutional is now totally out the window. Congress did not declare a state of war. It didn't even give the Pres clear permission to engage in airstrikes. Now his 60 days to kill the evil Serbs in this "police action" are through. Here's the Catch-22: Soldiers take an oath to defend that very same Constitution that Clinton seems to be so fond of wiping his ass with. How can they defend the Constitution by going to attack Yugoslavia? OTOH, how can military discipline and strength be maintained if servicemen resisted their Balkan Orders? I'm confused. I'm not the anti-military flag burning type but this really does seem to be a dilemma.

According to one of our CA congressmen, Tom Campbell, the president is now , at this time, in violation of the War Powers Act of 1973. This Act specifically states that the commander in chief can send troops (or other hostile forces) against another country for SIXTY DAYS

According to one of our CA congressmen, Tom Campbell, the president is now , at this time, in violation of the War Powers Act of 1973. This Act specifically states that the commander in chief can send troops (or other hostile forces) against another country for SIXTY DAYS (drat, I hit the wrong key, sorry) plus FortyEight hours. That last 48 hours gives him a last ditch attempt to get the approval of Congress. This has not been done. The matter is now before a Court, with Campbell, and a Democart co-plaintiff. When Congress was asked before, I think they voted the war down then, too.

Watched congress thismorning until Cox and Dicks (real names) came on the washington journal. Arlin Spector was trying to get them to ammend the war powers act. Sounded like a showdown of power. Even if they ammend it, I think Nato will ignore it. Seems to be Tony says and monkey does. Any body see how the vote went?

Hmmm. It seems to me that violation of the War Powers Act is grounds for impeachment and removal from office. Maybe the Congress will get it right this time.

But, if they did, would anything get better??

Consider the replacement.

"They'll be there by August. Done deal "

Agreed.

I never though BJ Clinton would be allowed to go this far. So much for "Wag the Dog". We're talking "Wag the Elephant"!

See you in the next life...

"Cox and Dicks"? They need to get syndicated, or run for office, or be lawyers, or at least start a brothel or something. Luv it!!
