Urban Y2k preparation strategies?

Since a large part of the US population is urban, what are some strategies to survive Y2k?

Despite advice to leave the cities, there are many of us who, for various reasons, just cannot do that. What then should we be doing to prepare (beyond the basic water, food, fuel,shelter issues)?

Don't Head For The Hills!

I picture in my mind what the highly populated areas may be like in the cold of the winter of "99...people building fires in their homes to keep warm and the resulting out of control fires sweeping through whole neighborhoods.

Need tips/hints for city/urban survival during y2k. Many of us must stay in city for y2k; please help us with your advice

I am; unable to leave a mid-sized city of about180,000 people due to obligations taking care of elderly parents or for the simple fact that they don't have any money to move out.
