Question about Bittorent

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Community Anime Reviews : One Thread

I'm pretty new to this whole Bittorent thing but everythign I've tried to download (except for one thing) always downloads from 1 to 2 K/s. Since alot of these things have more than one episode on them, you can imagine it would take forever to finish. Does this speed mean that what I'm trying to download is old or is it a problem with the program I'm using to download or what?

There are 4 factors that go into your download speed:

1. Your internet connection...a slow connection speed will produce a slow download.

2. The # of seeders and leechers...if you are trying to download a file that is not that new, then it probably wont have very many seeders, and because of that it also wont have very many leechers. That means that there arent very many people for you to download from.

3. Your upload speed...if you are limiting your upload speed in hopes that it will free more bandwidth for download speed, then you will not get a fast connection. The faster your upload speed the faster your download speed.

4. Ports...you have to have the right ports open. Many times ports are blocked by firewalls or routers, which makes for a very slow connection.

Those are what deternmine how fast of a download speed you have. Another consideration, but not necessarily a factor in your download speed is the program that you use. Some are not as good as others.
