I do have a Pentecostal orientation to Charismatic Doctrine, even if "doctrine" is not an acceptible term.

I persoanlly think that too much emphais on them may be dangeous, as they make it less about moral principels and more about "watch the petty miracle."

Not to put down miralces, and a wlel times oen cna have great effect, but still...

But you are "putting down" miracles with what you said. Miracles are acts of God, who are we to question them or denigrate them. In fact, Paul tells us to earnestly seek the greater gifts, to suggest otherwise is to violate the Lord's will for His Church. If Jesus and the Apostles required the gifts of the Spirit for their ministry, how much more should we?

David

Do miracles exist in your church?

BTW, why the "non-Catholic Christian" tag? Is it that critical that people disassociate you with Catholicism? It could be taken in a negative way, too.

Yes, I've witnessed hundreds of miraculous healings over the years. These are people who I know and can confirm the before and after results. Personally, I have even prayed for people and they were healed a few dozen times. The most impacting was a woman who had a brain tumor. I prayed for her on Sunday morning, she went into the hospital for surgery to remove it the next day and it was gone except for a small discoloration where it previously had been - it literally appeared to have shrivelled up and died, at least that's what her doctro told her. He was stunned and could not explain how it could have happened any natural way.

The "non-Catholic Christian" tage is automatic from the cookie that's been set from use at the Catholic forum. They asked me years ago to adopt that so that newcomers wouldn't take my advice as being from a Catholic. I just haven't bothered to change it.

David you miss my point. I merley eman that not everyone is goign to see a Mifacle in his or her own lifetime, and perhaps it is wiser to not lay this up as a promise one will see.

If a Miracle happens, then it is a good thing. But hwat if peopel focus on the Miraculous, and nto on the moral teachigns, and thus do not do what is right?

which is better?

The apostle Paul likewise said "where theur are prophecies, these shall fial, where their are tounges, they shall cease, where healign is, so shall it be done away, bty Charity never fialeth."

thus, we shoidl focus on the moral teahcing an lvoe of christ. Miracles I accept, btu they arent primary to my faith.

Hmmmm. Interesting. I wonder how people would feel if they had to tag thier names with "non-Protestant/Evangelical Christian"?

Or, having them sew the Star of David on their sleeves...

I guess it to some extent depends on what one accepts as being a miracle. On the "700 Club" every time somone $ent in any $ort of gift, it wa$ a miracle.

The birth of a baby, a sunrise, normal blood pressure readings, good weather at an out door concert---some see these as a miracles.

At what level do you set your Miracle Meter? (I'm afraid mine is set very very high)

How about an amutee gettign a new leg then dnacing a jigg?

-- ZAROVE (ZAROFF3@JUNO.COM), March 09, 2005.

Funny font$, Jim!!

I want to have the same visions and dreams that Elpidio has. My fear is that when I ask for miracles, I'll get them right along all the other things I didn't expect or want. So, I'll play it real cool and try to conform myself to what I have. Let's not rock the boat kind of deal...

My good friend told me to be careful what I pray for.

Rod

I'm facinated by dreams and have very vivid ones myself. Fortunately none seem to come true. IF they did there would be lots of disasters happening all around me.

I could expect my house to be on fire, my breaks to stop working at 65 mph, I'd forget to wear clothes one day, friends and relatives would die, and I'd forget how to fly while soaring through Baltimore City from roof top to roof top.

I hope they continue to reveal nothing to me!!!

-- Jim (furst@flash.net), March 09, 2005.

brakes

-- Jim (furst@flash.net), March 09, 2005.

They actually have come true, Jim. I could expect my house to be on fire-means problems, my breaks to stop working at 65 mph, I'd forget to wear clothes one dayyour life and secrets are now known by others, friends and relatives would die-They are either in danger of dying physically or depressed and I'd forget how to fly -get out of the problemswhile soaring through Baltimore City from roof top to roof top. Your problems don't end

Most dreams are symbolic, Jim, not necessarily real.

Elpidio,

I prefer the symbolic interpretaion. I actually do examine my dreams to see if I'm trying to tell myself something. I just don't want them to become anything more than symbolic. I don't want them to become predictive.

Unless its about a stock thats about to take off.

AH well, oral roberts...

stll, whosed gonna donat? Hurry, I hear God's hirign the htiman as we speak...

-- ZAROVE (ZAROFF3@JUNO.COM), March 09, 2005.

80% of my dreams are symbolic, Jim. Those are hard to interpret right away.

The thing witht he real ones is that I hear a voice which tells me this thing will happen. So far is like 12 different voices besides those of Jesus , God YHWH, death, and the other one. This means they assign me a different angel all the time.
