Marriage blessing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

What exactly happens when a marriage blessing is given by a priest? We have been told that our marriage can be blessed. Are there other people involved such as friends or family? Is it necessary to have official witnesses? How does one dress and where does the blessing take place? Does the priest accept a stipend? Is there a specific length of time one has to wait or does it depend on the schedule of the priest? Thank you very much.

I assume you are talking about having your marriage validated. Having your marriage blessed is not the proper term. If you really want to know what it is about, go see your Pastor; he can work out the particulars for your situation.

We have already seen the pastor but we did not discuss the questions that I have asked on this site. He used the term "blessed" by the Church. Thank you for your answer and clarifying the proper term but I was hoping for a more detailed answer.
