I have a copy. I read the first few chapters. It's one of those books that sits on my shelf til I get back to it. It looks and sounds good. So, why haven't I continued with it? I don't really know. Maybe I'm skeptical in thinking that there is some underlying catch to his modern day approach? I'm not sure.

Luke,

Here is what some members in the church have said concerning this book:

Kevin

Is it a believer's "duty" to worship and obey God? The key word is "duty". The reason I ask is because I stopped dead in my tracks when I read that it was not our duty(p.55, last paragraph) to do those things, but only a desire to worship and obey. I think that we sometimes do not like to obey what God has willed. So, it then becomes a duty to obey. That book is obviously teaching a "Faith Only" doctrine.

I thought it very interesting that non-denominationalism seems to promote The Purpose Driven Life

Rod,

You wrote, "Is it a believer's "duty" to worship and obey God? The key word is "duty"."

Yes it is our "duty" to worship and obey God... Luke 17:10 states, "So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.'"

Besides points of doctrine, I thought it was a helpful book.

im in the process of reading it with my friend who needs help. So far it is encouraging to read and comforting in a way but its not the full part. These books are good but they only have small parts of the bible to teach you with. BIble should be the true book to read and reflect and learn.
