Outrigger oarlocks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Open-water rowing : One Thread

I'm looking for a set of reasonably priced gunwhale mounted outrigger oarlocks for a 38" wide fixed seat modified dory. The boat is too narrow for long enough oars to reach its' potential.

Larry,

Outriggers for fixed seat boats have been discussed at length elsewhere on this site. Under "Gear" check Riggers: They're not just for racing anymore.

At $300 its tougher to call the Whitehall row ones reasonably priced. However there appear to be only two commerical ones, the Shaw and Tenny ones and those. Of the two, the Whitehall row ones are better built.

I've got them on my boat, photos at: http://www.geocities.com/garyLambda/SwampscottDory.html

And as Andrie points out, most of the information is under that other thread. -Gary-
