hey i was just wondering, since valentine's day is coming up, how would u say "i like u" or "i love u" in jap? sort of a stupid question i guess....

I think you could say "Aishiteru"... I dunno.. I asked somebody and they said you could say "anata ga daisuki desu"..so I dunno?? Ask SG2 she's good at japanese I think lol.

Considering this is a late answer, but to further people knowledge. "ai shiteru" would be one i suppose.

Also, in love hina, Naru says "suki" but sound like ski because the u is kinda silent. Suki should be translated around the terms of "like".

It's something along the lines of "Daiskii", which literally means "I love you". The term "skii" means "love".

hm...i though by adding dai infront of things just made things important, like 'daiichi' meaning "first" or "foremost".

BTW: the EDICT jpn2eng dictionary defines daisuki.

The correct term is "Suki." "Dai" kind of means big, so it's like ... "I love you alot."

"Aishiteru" is a rather powerful word used rather exclusively with close lovers.

I would first like to point out that saying 'Jap' can be thought of as racist. I am not Japanese, but many of my friends are offended by it, so please watch it. Is it really hard to type five more letters?

OK I think everyone else covered it but I'll talk anyways.

The form of the word "Suki" can be used in many ways as literally, "I like you". A common use for this is Daisuki, or if you wanted to say something like "I really like you" you would say "Daisuki yo", or even something like "Kimi o daisuki yo", but that last one may be a bit excessive. I'd just stick to something like "Suki da yo".

As for "I love you" it's pretty much just the basic "Aishite'ru". So...yeah...Did that help?

Oh yeah, and don't think that "suki" necessarily refers to love as some people here are implying. You could use it for something like "I like icecream" (AISU o suki da yo) or anything cuz it's not necessarily to apply to a person. So...Yeah...

Aishite'ru is more for people. Ai, of course, being love, and the shite'ru applying it to the person, etc...But I think most people already know that right?
