So Zipcar replaced the Golf Gaylord ($10/hr) near Columbia University (120th St) with a Volvo S40 ($14/hr)... Very nice for people who want to rent a sports car to impress their date or whatever, but for POOR students who live up here, we need cheaper cars, not more expensive ones! I find myself often hopping a cab to go farther away to get a cheaper car because I don't want to pay for the high end sports car in my neighborhood.

I recognize that a big part of the cost of the vehicle is the parking, but for those of us who are using Zipcar for the occasional errand as a replacement for buying a vehicle, putting in too many expensive sports cars like the S40 ruins the equation.

Our neighborhood already has a MINI. Can we swap it out for a Beetle, or at least some ordinary sedans like a Ford Taurus?
