Poe's work as been certainly influenced over time, i'd wonder what , exactly, influhenced him... Any person marked him? An important event in is life maybe?

Read a good biography. Try links at www.eapoe.org. Early on he was a fan with sincere empathy for the British Romantics like Coleridge, Byron, Moore and Shelley. Especially Byron I should think, whom he also personally disapproved of much the same as Mary Shelley did. Poe's originality and aloneness stand out regardless of anything.

What influenced Annabel Lee was the death of his wife, Virginia Clemm, who was the only woman he had ever loved. She died of tubercleousis.
