ACL boxcar built date

I am a member of the New Haven Railroad Historical & Techincal Society - so maybe you could give a fellow society member a hand.

I have a BevBel (I think)/Athearn 40' steel ACL boxcar with no built date. It has the circular Atlantic Coast Line herald to the right of the door, and the "Thanks for Using Coast Line" slogan to the left. Road number is 32063.

Would anyone know what the appropriate built date and/or the shop date (if any) might be for this car? Would really appreciate the help. Thanks, Pete

Pete, I'm not familiar with this particular model, but there's a mismatch between the car type and number. The real ACL 32063 was an ACF 50-foot car built in 1962. There were several classes of 40-foot cars with the TFUCL slogan, but they were built in 1964 and 1966. You could replace the number on yours, but the prototypes were PS-1s and so wouldn't match the Athearn model. The Athearn model is closest to the ACL 20000-21629 series, built by ACF in late 41 and early 42, and they never had the TFUCL slogan. My advice, sell that model and start over!
