Beginning Repertoire Collections with CDs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Everything About Teaching and Learning the Piano : One Thread

When teaching beginning repertoire, I prefer to use a series which includes a CD; my favorite is Materworks Classics by Alfred. The challenge is that I teach a number of siblings and prefer to put them in diffferent books. Does anyone have a recommendation for other first repertoire collection which come with a CD? I've tried Everybody's Perfect Masterpieces, but it has not been very popular. Thanks!

FJH has a wonderful series of repertoire entitled "The Developing Artist: Piano Literature" preparatory, 1, 2, 3, 4. I'm sorry I don't know if CDs are available yet, but I heard a while back that they were in the works. I have used these books with many students and I like them a lot, although I agree with you that Masterworks Classics are very good too. You can check the FJH website or give them a call to find out if the CDs have been released. BTW, FJH gives a generous teacher discount when you order directly from them.
