I would say that E.A.Poe wrote The Raven because he wanted to descibe the way he felt about his lif and death

Because while he was writing the poam his wife, Virgina, was dieing of turberkulosis in the room next to his. He was tring to describe how he felt then and how he would feel after her death. The raven symbolizes Virgina and how her death will forever hunt him.

he wrote it because he was describing how life and death is carried out on a ravens back and that life will sometimes have thorns in it's wing. Also that life is like a bird with a broken wing and has trouble getting up and taking flight again. Thats just like us when we fall we have to heal after we get hurt, but we have to get back up again and go for the same objective again.
