I'm not 100% sure on this but I've got high suspicions of this...

Is Shinzo (AKA Mushrambo), like Dragonball and Gensomaden Saiyuki, based on the ancient Chinese legend "Journey to the West" by Wu Cheng'En? I suspect it is. Can anyone confirm this?
