A 18yo teen-boy student of mine will take his grade 7 exam in Sept 2006. But as university student, he is so busy and doesn't have any time to practice.
I thought, he can practice in univ. vacation but last week he said, "My parents asked me to help our business in out of town. I don't know when I'll be back. I could be in there during my univ. vacation (1.5 months)".
If he's back a week before the end of univ. vacation, I don't think that he can be ready for the exam because it will be no time to prepare the exam at all.
Usually, his older brother will go to out of town during the univ. vacation for help his mom and oldest brother. He stays in here with his dad and older sister. His dad can't go to out of town because his healthy problem.
As I know, his parents really hope he can be success in piano lesson as well as in univ. But I don't understand why they asked him go during his vacation. Am I wrong if ask his parents so that he can be back in this week?
Thank you very much

I'm nineteen and preparing for my grade nine exam. If you know he won't be ready for the exam perhaps you should bring to his attention that his goals and his work habits aren't coinciding well, and one of them has to change--not that there's anything wrong with either of them--he just needs to prioritize. My teacher told me that I could pass an exam this June, but she wants me to do really well and has suggested August. I appreciate her honesty and realize that's it's also her job to give me an honest evaluation. If he really wants to play his exam you could suggest that he speak to his parents and see what they would like him to do. If they really want his help maybe he could snag a later exam date like me. Just a thought.
