Being able to contact Zipcar Members

There should be a way we can contact other Zipcar members. For example: I need need an SUV for this Saturday (12/11) from 12pm to 9pm. There are 2 reservations open, The Element from 12pm to 4pm and the Escape East from 2pm to Mid. Now, I would love to be able to contact the person who has The Escape from 12 to 2 and ask them if they would be willing to switch and take the Element from 12 to 2pm, so that I could have the Escape from 12pm. I think this would be a great feature for Zipcar.

Hmm. I don't think I want to be contacted by other members regarding my reservation. Can you imagine the chaos??? I like this part of Zipcar just the way it is. Make a reservation, get the vehicle- on MY terms, not someone elses. Just my opinion.

I guess what I should have said was: I think you should have the OPTION to have your email address displayed so other members could contact you. Personally I would definitely do it, and wouldn't mind at all if other members contacted me. I think it can be beneficial, but it should be up to each individual.

Hmm... I think you are retarded. Do you understand what the word OPTION means?? Do you understand that it means that people like you who are paranoid and afraid of strangers EMAILING them ((NOT CALLING)) DO NOT have to have their email displayed! Make my mind up on what? What are you talking about?

BTW: Yes, you are absolutely right, once they start displaying email addresses, next come cell phone numbers, and from there zipcar starts displaying home addresses and account information with credit card numbers. You are right; because once you start giving people the OPTION to display their email, it's just all downhill from there.

While the option to have your email linked to the "reserved" time bar on the reservations web page could be very useful, and I would personally be willing to opt for it, those who send emails to earlier reservers will have to realise that not everyone checks their email very often, let alone has much flexibility in their schedule. On the other hand, they might end up reminding the earlier reserver that they had forgotten to cancel on a reservation that turned out to be unnecessary, and so do both parties a big favor. I have even heard of 2 MIT Zip members sharing a ZipCar for an errand to the Home Depot, which might become more common with this option.
