WTB: single shell for Boston coastal watersgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Open-water rowing : One Thread |
I am looking to purchase my first rowing shell that would be used in the coastal area of Boston Harbor, most of the waters I would use the shell would be around Winthrop and the Logan Airport area protected from open rough water, but gets choppy . Recreational use onlyI am 220 lbs, looking for a shell that will meet these needs.
Thanks,

Martin- Believe the Alden Martin will fit your needs perfectly. The shell performs well in choppy (even rough) water and has a weight capacity of 275 lbs. For more information on the boat, search Google @ Alden Martin. Thanks for your interest. Seth (781) 934-2995

Martin, I've got what you are probably looking for. Unfortunately it's at the other end of the country. I've an Alden 18, 4 years old, great shape, with an Oarmaster II and a pair of oars. I'm asking $1200. It's a great boat for the larger rower (I'm 220 myself), and is especially good in rough water. But, as I said, location is a problem. I'm just north of Seattle. If there is any way this could work for you, let me know, other wise, good luck, I hope you can find something because you'll love it once you get on the water. It's not only a good way to get in a workout, but it can be emotionally theraputic also. Take care.Rich
