The raping of dead bodies is being a necropheliac (not sure on spelling), tho it is gross it is common among people who where abused severly when young and fear contact but need sexual pleasure. They are in controll in the situation and no one else so it gives them a high that they normally wouldnt get. No Edgar allen poe lived a normal life, give or take. Nothing severe enough to cause him to becaome a necropheliac. I have read many different articles and all of his stories. The biographies on him suggest nothing that he feared human contact. His stories focus on death and being surrounded by death and even loving those who are dead and i think one story focuses on a love being ressurected if im not mistaken, but even those are all explainable by toher life events that took place in his life. So in short i do not believe or even have strong reasoning to believe that he raped dead people.

I highly doubt Poe was a necrophile though its a different story of how many tried to break into his tomb. In Paris, the grave of Vincent Noir was closed down from the public due to numerous attempts to rape him.
