Resistance welding of copper wire to plated steel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

To facilitate rapid and econmical instalation of redundant grounding conductors in electrical installations I want to projection or even spot weld a #12 AWG solid copper wire (electrical tough pitch alloy) to a zink plated standard electrical junction box.

Conductivity must be at liest as good as a bolted connection to the box. Stringth is secondary but it must be at liest strong enough to withstand normal handeling during assembly and connection.

Has anybody ever tried this and can we write a bullitproof proceedure?
