Looking for a 1905 private girls school on Nob Hill

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

My grandmother went to a private all girls boarding school on or near Nob Hill in 1905 and was standing in the 1906 EQ. Her parents came to pick her to take her back to the ranch in Napa County, but had to sleep on the floor of the school until the next morning before leaving the city. I want to find out where it was and any history with it.

There's a building on Jones St between I think Vallejo and Green on the west side of the street. It's white and has steps going up to the door. It's been a while since I saw it. I was told that it was once a school and always wondered about it. I think it has been converted into a more conventionally residential form. I know the location is now referred to as "Russian Hill", but it's only a few blocks from Pacific Ave., historically the geographical pass between the two hills. I'll try to go by there and get the address for you.

I think you may be looking for Katherine Delmar Burke School for Girls at 7070 California Street. I am not sure that is the correct spelling, but my aunt (deceased) went there. There was also Boys High School where girls were allowed to take college prep courses such as Latin and Greek. There also may have been a Miss Bransons School but I have no other information on that.
