Any Working Dance Accompanists Out There?

Hello There All, Hoping to generate a forum about the subject of accompaning for dance classes. Modern or Ballet. Does anyone has any thoughts or inspirations on the subject of playing for dance classes or your concept or approach to this art? I like that you can perform for people on a regular basis that rely on the music you provide/create.You also have the power to influence the entire class by the mood you choose to create. The musicians job is a mighty one and for me it seems duanting at times to improvise for an extended period, but when its good, it is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Anyone else?

Hi. I'm an adult beginner and would love to be accomplished enough to accompany dancers. As a child I took ballet classes in a place with a pianist. It creates a much more intimate and spontaneous environment for learning. I think it's great that you have the opportunity to incorporate your music into your community in such an intrinsic way. That's what music should be about.
