Dr. Gene Scott, Who?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Ask Jesus : One Thread

If anything, Dr. Gene Scott made an impression on me during a difficult time in my weakened faith. He made Jesus a real figure of history, but most importantly, he preached what I already knew about Christ. I needed that teaching.

So, Dr. Gene Scott, who is he?

(There are many websites--some good, some bad--that tell of his mission.)

Generally, I like what Dr. Gene Scott has done in spreading the Gospel. Of course, I do not always agree entirely 100%.

The following will get some people a little hot under the collar:

"During his Sunday sermons, Scott often admonishes his congregation not to seek God's blessing from a priest, the Pope or a place of worship. 'And you're sure not going to get it from a motel with Jimmy Swaggart,' he cracks. Rather, these blessings flow through God's word as interpreted by Gene Scott. His is a "word-based church" offering intelligent Christianity, Scott emphasizes. "

I think he also believes in faith healing.

I do only to a certain extent. Many diseases or physical and medical conditions can be cured by modern medicine.

That is why I oppose Christian Scientists.

I distrust him completely, but in his dishonesty I trust him more than the other "Christian> TV guys. His dishonestay seems almost hilarious.

I've always been OK for a good joke as long as it wasn't to stupid peoples demise. With Gene Scott, It almost seems like we are asking for it if we can think.

Well, Jim, that's one of his phrases: God loves ahilarious giver.

He calls God Yahwah, but he still believes in the virgin birth and Jesus being God.

Why is it that I never read where Jesus told people to give him their money ie: 10-20-30 %? I guess if Jesus was needing to pay for air time on live television then he would need our donations? I love Dr Scott's teachings & do feel the need to contribute where I am being feed spiritually by the word of God. I just don't beleive in legalism and know that it won't save you. Read Romans chapter 10, read IICor Chapter 3 or read Galations. Paul says that salvation is by faith and that the law has faded away. Then why do people like Dr Scott need more that what I want donate by my heart? Because they have gotten used to the good life. That is it in a nut shell.
