On October 24, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- "saints" and "blesseds" whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Anthony Mary Claret y Clara of Sallent [Antonio Maria] (Spanish, priest, retreat master, missionary, founder of the Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary [commonly called Claretians] and of the Teaching Sisters of Mary Immaculate, archbishop of Santiago in Cuba, confessor to queen of Spain, prophet and miracle-worker, preacher of 10,000 sermons, author of 200 works, spread devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady, died in France at age 62 in 1870 [beatified 1934, canonized 1950])

St. Bernard of Manso Calvó (Spanish, Cistercian abbot, bishop of Vich, d. 1243)
St. Cadfarch (Welsh, 6th century)
St. Ebregislus of Cologne (German, bishop, martyred in 5th century)
King St. Elesbaan (Ethiopian, ruler, hermit, c. 555)
Sts. Felix, Januarius, Fortunatus, and Septimus (martyred in 303)
St. Felix of Thibiuca (African, bishop, martyred in 303)
St. Fromundus of Coutances (Irish, Benedictine abbot, missionary bishop in France, c. 690)
Bl. John Angel Porro of Milan [Giovanni Angelo] (Italian, Servite priest, hermit, died at age 53 in 1504 [beatified 1737])
St. Joseph Le Dang Thi of Ke Van (Vietnamese, army captain, martyred by strangling at about age 35 in 1860 [beatified 1909, canonized 1988])
Bl. Louis Guanella of Fraciscio di Campodolcino [Luigi] (Italian, parish priest, founder of Daughters of St. Mary of Providence, founder of Servants of Charity, built institute for handicapped, aided immigrants in U.S., died at age 72 in 1915 [beatified 1964])
St. Maglorius of Lammeur (Welsh, abbot, bishop of Dol in France, d. 586)
St. Marcius of Monte Cassino (Italian, Benedictine monk, hermit, d. 679)
St. Martin of Vertou (French, hermit, abbot, died at about age 74 in 601)
Holy Martyrs of Nadjran [also known as "St. Aretas and companions"] (Ethiopians in Yemen, chief and his community of 340, martyred [burned] by Jews in 523)
St. Proclus (from Asia Minor [now called Turkey], bishop of Cyzicus, patriarch [bishop] of Constantinople, opposed Nestorian heresy, c. 446)
St. Senoch of Tiffauges (French, abbot, 6th century)
Bl. Tadhg MacCarthy of Munster (Irish, bishop of Ross, died in Italy at age 37 in 1492 [beatified 1895])

Thank You for giving St. Anthony Claret extra space tonight! I think he deserves anything that is possible after giving 10,000 sermons! That is equal to giving a Sermon everyday for over 27 years without ever missing a day.
