If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints or blesseds and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Additional information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.

You're welcome, "little paul." Nice to hear from you.

You wrote: "i was actually somewhat interested in learning a little bit more about the martyrdom of St Joseph Stanek, if you knew anything more about it..."

Now don't canonize him prematurely, please! I was able to find three sites where you can go to read more about Blessed Joseph Stanek.
First, here are some brief biographical notes in English.
Second, here is a photo and a few comments in Polish.
Third, here are some more substantial biographical notes in Polish.

I seem to recall that you are studying in north-central Europe now, so I hope that you know someone who can translate the Polish for you.

Paul, you also wrote: "where do you gather all this great information?"

I have collected it from scores of Internet sites (though primarily about five) and a few books (including the "Liturgy of the Hours"). Some time next year, when I will have more free time -- perhaps after posting the last daily thread -- I will post a message giving links to a bunch of the sites on which I have relied heavily since I started doing this in 2001.

God bless you.
John

hey john,

actually, right now i'm back in the states at school. travels in europe are a summer thing to visit my mom. i hope things are treating you well. my mistake on the early canonization of Blessed Joseph Stanek. I had a hunch there would be something captivating about his story, and here is what i found on that breif bio:

"On September23, 1944, he was hanged from the iron rafters of the ruined factory with two young women. As he was being hoisted up, he blessed and forgave all present."

just a reminder of how we are called to be like Christ, even forgiving unto our death.
