On October 13, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- "saints" and "blesseds" whose souls are now in heaven:

Bl. Alexandrina Maria da Costa of Balasar (Portuguese, laywoman, bed-ridden paralytic, mystic, visionary, survived her last 13 years on Holy Communion alone, died at age 51 in 1955 [beatified 2004])
St. Berthoald of Cambrai (French, bishop, 7th century)
St. Carpus of Troas (from Asia Minor [now called Turkey], disciple of St. Paul [2 Tim 4], 1st century)
St. Chelidonia of Subiaco (Italian, Benedictine hermitess, d. 1152)
St. Comgan (Irish, abbot in Scotland, 8th century)
St. Edward the Confessor of Islip (British, king, healer, died at age 62 in 1066 [canonized 1161] [incorruptible])
St. Colman of Stockerau (British, d. 1012 [incorruptible])
Sts. Faustus, Januarius, and Martial of Cordova (Spanish, tortured and martyred by burning c. 304)
St. Florentius of Thessalonica (Greek, martyred by burning in 312)
Sts. Fyncana and Fyndoca (Scottish? virgins, early martyrs)
St. Gebrand of Foigny (French, Cistercian abbot, d. 1218)
St. Gerald of Saint-Cirgues (French, blind count, died at about age 54 in 909)
Bl. Mary Magdalen dei Panattieri of Trino [Maria Maddalena] (Italian, Dominican tertiary, virgin, died at about age 60 in 1503 [beatified 1828])
St. Maurice of Loudeac (French, Cistercian abbot, died at about age 77 in 1191)
St. Regimbald of Speyer (German, Benedictine abbot, bishop, d. 1039)
St. Romulus of Genoa (Italian, bishop, c. 642)
St. Simbert of Augsburg (German, abbot, bishop, c. 808)
St. Theophilus of Antioch (Syrian, pagan philosopher, Catholic bishop, c. 181)
St. Venantius of Tours (French, abbot, 5th century)
