1st Rental a Success with a few glitches

I completed my first Zipcar rental (Jetta Jobe at Sargeants Wharf on Commercial Street) this weekend for a drive down to to Cape. This was a great option since I couldn't find a single available rental car anywhere in Boston for the holiday weekend!

All was fine until pulling out of Hyannisport when I realized that the passenger side, front bumper was hanging off the car! After further examination, it appears that someone had, previously, rigged the bumper back on with a zip tie! I called Zipcar and was alerted to the "damage log" in the glove compartment - which clearly showed the 3 previous drivers' attempts at resolving the situation. Luckily, we found an Auto Zone store to assist us with possible solutions, and we ended up securing with a black bungee - which turned out to be "very attractive" to the appearance of the car. ha! The Customer Service Rep was apologetic and gave me driving credit. I was mainly concerned that it could have fallen off the vehicle and injured myself or others by causing an accident. Additionally, I was concerned that I would be responsible for the damage! Thank goodness all went well!

Other than that, the inside of the car was "okay" - though I thought it weird that the rubber on the door handle was peeling.

I tried Zipcar again yesterday, and it was smooth sailing! New Members, check the Damage Log in the Glove Compartment!

Funnily enough, I was on the Cape this last weekend as well (with a so-so rental from Enterprise though) and I remember walking by Jetta Jobe on the street in Chatham and thinking it was cool to see a Zipcar from Boston there. It's a small world, thanks to Zipcar's spread up and down the East Coast. Welcome to Zipcar!
