On October 2, we members of the Catholic Church family honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- "saints" and "blesseds" whose souls are now in heaven:

Bl. Anthony Chevrier of Lyons [Antoine] (French, priest, founded Society of Priests of the Prado, died at age 53 in 1879 [beatified 1986])
St. Beregisus of Saint-Hubert (French, abbot? c. 726)
St. Eleutherius and companions, of Nicomedia (from Asia Minor [now called Turkey], soldier, martyred c. 303)
St. Gerinus of Arras (French, brother of Leodegarius [see below], martyred by stoning in 676)
Bl. John Beyzym of Beyzymy Wielkie [Jan] (Polish, priest, missionary for 48 years to lepers on Madagascar, died at age 62 in 1912 [beatified 2002])
St. Leodegarius of Autun (French, nobleman, Benedictine abbot, bishop, tortured [blinded, lips cut off, tongue pulled out] and martyred at about age 62 in 678)
St. Leudomer of Chartres (French, bishop, c. 585)
Bl. Maria Antonina Kratochwil of Ostrava-Vitcovice [baptized Maria Anna (Mary Ann)] (Polish born in Moravia, School Sister of Notre Dame, martyred by Nazis at Stanislawow at age 61 in 1942 [beatified 1999])
Sts. Primus, Cyril and Secundarius (early martyrs in Syria)
St. Theophilus (Bulgarian, Benedictine monk in Asia Minor, opposed iconoclast heresy, c. 750)
St. Ursicinus II of Chur (Swiss, Benedictine abbot, bishop, hermit, d. 760)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints or blesseds and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Additional information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

Please excuse my "sin of omission!"
The thread should have begun with the following words:

On October 2, we members of the Catholic Church family honor the Holy Guardian Angels.

John,

The Lord blessed me with a great Angel. I don't think I could make it without him, and I have been in some tough situations in life.

May God bless all the Angels.

David, I thank your Angel for protecting you! Otherwise I would have never met you. JFG
