I note on a few rosters, including Mr. Larry Pucket's site, that Sou. Rwy. had only 1 Alco RS-11 Diesel. The photos show the loco without Dynamic Brake grilles on the Long Hood. Was this the only RS-11 Loco owned by the railway, & did it operate in the Carolina's. Thankyou. Peter Hann. South Australia. (we got Southern Railway fans even Down Under!).

Answers

#11 was a phase I RS11 originally owned by the Carolina & North- Western. She did indeed spend most of her early life in the Carolinas and ended it in the late 60's/early 70's in the Atlanta region. Check out the various photos at www.tarheelpress.com under the C&N-W pages. Yes, she was the only RS11 ever on the SR roster.
