greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

A month since his arrival in the 19th Episcopal District, Bishop James L. "Butch" Davis, is to join South African Religious Leaders who will be meeting the State President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Thabo Mbeki. The meeting will be held in Pretoria on Tuesday, September 28th, 2004.

President Mbeki has designed it in his tenure as President to meet with Religious Leaders twice in the year. The meetings are designed for him to seek the counsel of religious leaders as his goverment designs and implements policy to govern the country and relate to other nations. In the same breath, the meeting is also designed to build and strenghten partnerships in the need to deliver development to those who need it most in the country. The meeting on September 28th will be the second in this year. Bishop Richardson participated in the first meeting and the other previous years.

Kindly pray for Bishop Davis that he may find it a useful way to carry and represent the needs of his constituency through these fora.

This is great development for the church. Our Pastor Rev Clive Pillay has also been admitted as a member on the National Government's Moral Regeneration Movement for input from the religious sector towards this surely needed body
