Hello James!

Here at the Vatican site you can read the Code of Canon Law, the Bible, and the Catechism. Below are some other options, so you can choose what you prefer best.

Catechism of the Catholic Church:

Bibles
New American (Catholic)
New American (Catholic; in English, Italian, and Latin)
Douay Rheims (Catholic)
Alternate Douay Rheims (non-Catholic site)
Revised Standard (non-Catholic site)
King James (non-Catholic site)
Revised Standard with search capabilities
Another Revised Standard with search
The Unbound Bible (Protestant - great for extensive study)
Blue Letter Bible in KJV (Protestant, good for study of original languages)
*Bible Gateway (Protestant; my favorite for searches - multiple versions, languages, very efficient)

Well James I hope that was helpful and not too much information! What is your native language or say top 3 languages? Perhaps if I know that I could better direct you to a good translation to meet your needs. God bless!

P.S. James, no I don't think it is legal or ethical to exchange copyrighted information over the internet without the permission of the copyright owner. The KJV might be ok since it is Public Domain, but I think the other things you listed would be illegal to trade. Usually, it's anything with a copyright.

Stick to checking public websites such as the ones I gave you.

I thought the Catchism was general use and could be distributed... and I know the Douay Rheims is now.

Zarove, I was referring to these works of which he spoke:

I have KJV(.lit) , crossing the thresshold(.txt) most of St.Louis de Montfort writings,(too long to list) May devotion to Our Mother - St.Josemaria Escriva(.txt)

They sound wonderful. I know Crossing the Threshold of Hope is Pope John Paul II's book, which I would assume is copyrighted since it is modern. I don't know about the other things but I was assuming on the safe side. As for the Catechism, I do not know the copyright laws regarding that document.

Hi James, I think it's wonderful that you have a gift to understand languages so well! If you are interested, I found two Bible versions for you in Chinese. Since I know nothing about Chinese, it might be the wrong dialect, but you might wish to check it out. They are Protestant versions and I have no idea as to their reliability. However, it may be useful for your studies.

Chinese Union Version (text)
Download a Chinese Bible

If you would like a recommended Bible version in your language, I suggest writing to Catholic Answers' Ask an Apologist forum. They might be able to point you in the right direction. Also you might wish to ask for good Catholic websites in your native language or in Chinese.

I supposed is more to ethical than copyright.

for eg. we are paying copyright fees of the Bible by doing daily read on it, hopefully it will fulfilled God's Will ?

On the case of "crossing the thresshold"(one of my fav) , I Don't think The Holiness will sue Us for copyright but if it was printed, maybe the printer can charge us but he have to pay the Holiness for any chatrges he incur on us Correct me ,if I am wrong.Pls.

Wow, Xavier, that's a great site :) Thanks for sharing!!

I just found this Online Reference Resources site from another Catholic forum, and this is probably the best collection of links to Bibles and other Church documents that I've ever seen. It's worth a look!
