Having read today's papers I have to say I feel really sorry for SBR. It looks as if he DID know he was going but there appears to have been some kind of understanding that it wouldn't be made public until January. Why on earth FS decided to make it public now - only he knows. I only hope it galvanises the team as is suggested in the Journal rather than send them in the other direction.

Freddy Shepherd- hasn't even got an NVQ in running a PLC by the looks of things!

It occured to me that this coming season could go down in history as the season when we witnessed the humiliation of not one, but two of the North East`s most emminent sporting greats. (It would not take much of a drop in form for the long knives to be out for `Shearer the Hasbeen`.) Worse, it will be at the hand of the Club they love and revere the most.

Now if I could see this as a possible scenario, the press most certainly will have and will, no doubt, be salivating like Komodo Dragons over a rotting carcass.

So I think we can assume that the spotlight will be firmly on NUFC for the coming season. If ever there was a time for us to be in dire need of a clever and competent PR team at the Club, it is now. Instead, we have a Chairman who opens his big gob and plays straight into the hands of the press. At times I feel that Bobby is made to look incompetent because he is either, being kept in the dark, or, he sticks to the agreed spin only to have the Chairman spout a differnent version!

I sincerely hope that I am wrong.....(:o(

I hope you're wrong, too, but have to admit, I've been having similar feelings. What a depressing thought. But there's still no reason to get down before the season even starts. We'll have 9mos to wallow in depression after that. ;-)
