Invoice Confusion

greenspun.com : LUSENET : zipcar : One Thread

Please review your invoicing notification... It is not the clearest of invoices / payments especially with credits / credit certificates / billings etc.. Does anyone else have difficulty?

I would recommend that you have just one invoice for the month, on the invoice you state clearly state

1. Any credits to the account - i.e. Monthly Credit (indicating bank account / credit card taken from) 2. Any rolled over credits from previous months 3. Any non-expiry credits - which surely are used up last. (i.e. Gift Certificates) 4. Any charges to the account 5. Any credits to the account (car wash) 6. Summation of Credits minus Charges 7 Statement of amount to be charged/credited to credit card at end of month.

If necessary, you could provide a payment statement indicating amount paid.

One flaw i've spotted seems to be on the Summary of Charges section... (it says on mine at least)

unused gift certificate $73.67 to be billed to credit card on Aug 1st: $73.67

Does this mean that the gift certificate is being refunded to me? If I look at another my February invoice, the unused gift certificate is there, with the same amount, but the to be billed to credit card statement says: "To be billed to credi card on Feb 29th"

Thanks,

I stronly agree, Zipcar needs to have a clear monthly statement.

Yup yup total confusion, it gives you a whole month invoice of total confusion and lets not forget you sometimes get a different invoice in a different month with the total charges you recieved from the tolls from bridges and tunnels and any other tolls you go through.

This is the #1 problem with zipcar, IMHO.

I can't figure out how much money I'm actually driving per month. You can't figure out how much your card is about to be charged without a magic decoder ring.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with the new invoices. I spent about an hour on the phone with a Zipcar billing representative a few weeks ago trying to get them to explain to me why I seem to be being charged twice for my monthly fee - once at the end of the month, where it shows up as a "forwarded" charge, and once at the beginning of the next month, where it shows up as a line item called "monthly fee." In effect, Zipcar always has $75 more of my money than they should - I don't know why they don't just call it a deposit and be done with it - but the billing rep insisted that I wasn't listening to her and called into question my ability to do math. I am not a satisfied Zipcar member at the moment!
