How many spot welds are there on an average North American car??? This question came up in a welding meeting. I figured 5000 plus, but i have no real data, any idea??? Thank you for your help,

For last 20 years I have been involved in spot welding of cars the figure 5000 welds have been used.

The last vehicle that I worked on for one of the big 3 was reported to have about 3800 welds; a full size truck rear side panel was reported to have 100; a door about 100; a lift gate about 100
