having lots of trouble using P2P programs like kazaa and bit torrent need help

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Community Anime Reviews : One Thread

i tried like a few P2P programs like kazaa, soulsleeker, limewire and so on, and evertime i like download anything i usually download really really slow, like 3k. so i just gave up on these P2P programs. then i tried bit torrent, what i like about bit torrent is it seems a lot faster then those P2P programs, but everytime im in the middle of downloading something my computer freezes up and i have to start the dl all over again. and usually i have to download really really large files and my hard drive usually dosents have enough space, and takes really really long. even though its faster then those P2P programs 50k download speed just dosents cut it when your dling like a 800MB file. and it will more then likely freeze before i even download 50% of the file. so what im asking for is how use these P2P programs and bit torrent efficiently. THANKS

GET BROADBAND (HIGHSPEED) internet! It's the only way, and by the way, of your parents say "I can't afford it" then just get "dsl lite", ok?

i have dsl, so my internet connection is not the problem

the people you are downloading off of might have a slow internet connection and it may only be one person you are downloading off of thats could be the problem. like if on kazaa you have four or five people with broadband internet and you are downloading one file from them it goes faster but other than that i have no idea about bittorrent

dsl is the problem - dsl just doesn't match up as well to cable- so basically all u really can do is just live with it unless u have a router- then that is a another story

DSL can still be slow depending on the condition of your lines between your house and the terminal server it connects at (nearest node, usually no more then 100 ft from the house/property)

Well, P2P matters how fast the internet of the person u r downloading things from. For instance, if the person u are downloading stuff from has DSL or Broadband internet, you're guaranteed a great speed, but if that person has dial up ur proabably gonna have a slow speed. It also matters what kind of internet connectiion u have.

Btw Cable is not faster than cable or vice versa it depends on ur location. For example cable get affected by how many people in ur neighbourhood uses cable but it don't get affected by how far you are away from the connections central office. Dsl get affected by how far you are away from the phone companies central office but it don't get affected by how many people in your neighbourhood uses the same connection. The only real benefit of having cable than dsl is that most of the time cable is cheaper than dsl.
