That's a long way to go for a cheesesteak. :-)

Bro. Kirk Your idea is both a good one but a challenging one. We have discussed a get-together for the last two years and as yet nothing has transpired. I would suggest a get together to pay tribute to Rev. John Fisher and to pay a visit to Sis. Jan and his daughter. It will be a long journey for some (including myself from Bermuda) but if planned with enough time it could work. Thanks for the suggestion.

God Bless You

I'll be in Philly for the FAMU-Temple football game in September 2004. Many of you know that Philly is my wife's home so I'm no stranger to the City of Brotherly Love. I propose we all plan a luncheon ($25.00 per person) to be held at the AME 1st District Plaza Restaraunt and let all proceeds go towards the establishment of a scholarship to be named in honor of Rev. John Fisher for an AME divinity student studying at ITC. I would further propose that the good folks from the 1st on this MB (Mary, Nalton, Bob McCain, Kirk, Bishop Norris' son, Marian Spivey-Sudler) be responsible for planning this event. If Marian doesn't object, and I don't think she would, she should chair the event :-) Rev. Paris should be the MC and Robert Matthews should provide the occassion. Either Bishop Norris or Bishop Richardson should be the keynote speaker. Rev. Rogers could chair the Scholarship Committee to make sure we are making an efficient investment in our future AME pastor. Our financial czar Nalton should chair the Finance Committee and to make sure we don't lose perspective for why we are getting together, I'll gladly assume the very important duties of sampling the food before we eat (LOL). Bill, you forgot Jerryl Payne. We can't have a celebration without Music and I for one want to hear Jerryl play the hammond organ!

We have talked about this for years. And I do believe it will happen one day. I have not been to the east coast in 11 years and the last time I was in Philly was when Danielle and I flew out of the philly airport to come to Montana.

I will be attending the Church growth conference and doing a workshop in January, tentatively it will be in myrtle beach. So perhaps we can plan a get together around one of our church conferences.

I would also like to add I have not had any good ribs in awhile, so Jerryl bring some of the texas barbeque sause. And Bill, do you have a special recipe that you cook?

How could I have been so careless as to forget Jerryl? Music is essential to enhance any program. Many thanks Denise for catching this egregious oversight on my part. Now we just need to find some singers :-) QED

I'm willing to travel! :)

With Texas being such a central location the default location has to be Texas. There is a small cafe in College Station (Home of Texas A&M University} that makes a dinner-plate-sized Chicken-Fried Steak that is to die for. For the non-Texans CFS is made by taking a large steak (Round or Sirlion) hammering it into submission, dipping in batter and deep frying. Serve with lots of gravy and a baked potato or frys. (Please stop drooling on the keyboard)

Well, if my schedule prohibits, I would be honored to recommend Counselor Vernon Randolph Byrd, Jr. as your musical source. I assure you, you will be in good handsm and your ears will be greatly blessed.

As for CFS, in Houston we serve them with white gravy and mashed potatoes. Just a little bit more fried food than I normally eat these days, but a tasty dish, nervetheless. Of course, Rev. Paris, if we do come, we must bring some true BBQ - you know, the kind without juice - to our eastern friends. :-)

Now Jerryl, I love how you tried to get out of playing music. It won't work;-) Now if you want some real country fried chicken you have to come to Montana. Now remember those steaks that texan love to it, come from Montana. Montanans did cattle drives to texas.

I do think if we are going to do this we should have a fun destination where we can have a vacation.

I would like to suggest next summer and come visit Yellowstone National park, see old faithful, pan for gold and see the majestic rocky mountains.

Of course if Christ be not come and we're still in the land of the living we could wait til 2016 when the General Conference will be here in the city of brotherly love. My treat on the Philly cheesesteaks!

I see where Denise mentioned Myrtle Beach...Myrtle Beach is good! I'm orginally from South Carolina. St. Andrews AME Chuch, Andrews, SC. I believe Bishop Grady retired to Charleston..maybe he'd join us.

Well Gang If we don't get our minds off of the food we won't be able to figure out where we will meet(not meat). All of this is making me hungry. Let's figure out where. Parson Paris Texas is a long way for me. Could we consider Carolina?

Blessings from Bermuda

It would be wonderful if you would come to the mother conference to the city of brotherly love and sisterly affection. Come home and worship at Bethel. The church appears just as it did in 1889 from its chandelier and glass windows to her starburst rugs. Visit Bethel's Smithnsonian quality museum. Then, travel a few block over to our sisters and brothers at Old St. George to see where Richard Allen and Absalom Jones left. Then go to Bensalem to visit where this board began. Finally, after Pastor Leath's soul stirring sermon and the Cathedral Choir's heavenly song, wind down Sunday afternoon at Cafe 3801 with Kevin's delicious smorgasboard.

We could pick a different place to meet say every other year. The home of the next Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles and Mother Bethel seems like a good place to start. But please please put the pink sands of Bermuda on the itinerary shortly thereafter.

Hi-Bye,

Bethel, Shelly Bay sonds good to me too!

See you there (one day).

Brother Byrd, do we have to wait for the Eagles to win a Super Bowl? That will be awhile yet and I would hope to get together sooner rather than later. By the way, New England now will have a running game with the addition of Corey Dillon. I do support Philly for a Reunion but would not want to wait so long. :-)

Very funny Bob (said with a tinge of sarcasim and envy:)

Don't worry Bob we'll have an AME Reunion LOOOOOONG before the Eagles win a Super Bowl. My Bucs will see to it. Oh, by the way enjoy your time as champs because the Pats will not repeat. Football expert that I am, I couldn't resist :-) QED
