Businesses in downtown Oxford, NC

When NCDOT completed I-85 past Oxford, NC, the last mile of the ex-SAL Oxford branch was cut back to avoid building a bridge over the Interstate. The one SCL downtown customer that I remember was the Oxford Orphanage that offloaded coal into a wagon at the team track and hauled it to the Orphanage with a tractor. What other businesses had once been in Oxford? SCL built a new brick depot at the end of track and I think that there was a pulpwood yard there.

Curt Tillotson of Oxford is probably the best help with this question. I purchased a photo from him of an RSC-3 passing by the school he went to in Oxford. This had to be before the cutback to the woodyard east of I-85.
