Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them: the same werethe mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.
Numbers 13:32-33 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto the children of Israel saying, "The land through which we have gone to spy it out is a land that eateth up the inhabitants therof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in theigh sight.
Any possibility that the stories of Hercules and other heroes came from these people?

Luke,I believe the story of Hercules (I like Greek Mythology, and Eygption) came from the story of Sampson.

Luke, can you see why I believe Genesis 1-6 is not true? You just proved it!!!!Notice your quote:

Notice what Genesis 7 has to say: everything was destroyed, except for Noah and his family. This include the Nephillim.His family did not descend from the Nephillim, thus, how could there be nephillim still around? Because there never was a universal flood!!!! Gen 7:7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. Gen 7:23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained [alive], and they that [were] with him in the ark.
Another example from Genesis: Gen 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain [was] Naamah.
If Tubalcain is considered the ancestor of people working with Iron, why people could still do Iron works if he and his people died? Noah was not descended from Tubalcain. In the old days people inherited their father’s craft.

David is right about Hercules being Samson.For those interested in Greek history I recommend Herodotus History. In it he lsists the ancestors of several ethnic groups.
Compare Hercules to Samson.
Hercules is the son of Zeus Samson comes from divine intervention just like Jesus. Some of the same words are even quoted by Luke!!!

Hercules was commanded to do 12 works. Samson also was commanded to do works.
Hercules kills a lion. So does Samson.
Jdg 14:5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.
Hercules kills the Hydra, a 9-headed monster,Samson ties foxes.
Jdg 15:4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
Herculesd has to get a hind , a hind is simply a female red deer. Samson hets a donkey(ass):

Jdg 16:3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put [them] upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that [is] before Hebron.
Hercules was attacked by Hera, the mother of the Gods to get The Apples of the Hesperides.Samson was betrayed by Delialah.
Hercules has top fight Cerberus in the underworld. Samson is sent to the underworld(sheol ) after destroying the temple of the Philistines.
Jdg 16:29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
Jdg 16:30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with [all his] might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that [were] therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than [they] which he slew in his life.
So in dying, Samson achieved immortality, just like Hercules was triumphant in the underworld!!!!

Who else from Greek mytholy is from the Bible? Jason and the Argonauts.
Jason is Gideon. Gideon is also called Jerubaal in Hebrew.In Greek Jason is Jesus, thus meaning savior. Gideon had become a savior to his people.
Jdg 7:1 Then Jerubbaal, who [is] Gideon, and all the people that [were] with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
Story of the fleece.
Jdg 6:37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; [and] if the dew be on the fleece only, and [it be] dry upon all the earth [beside], then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

Zeus lives on Mount Olympus. He controls lighning and thunder, same as Yahweh.For you that know Spanish: The name Zeus is related to the Greek word dios, meaning "bright".
Yahweh lives on Mount Sinai. He also controls thunder and nature.

These Greek myths were taken to them from the Hebrews by the Phoinicians(Tyrians) during the days of King David and salomon.

Ashtoreth, one of the early Godesses of the Hebrews became Diana (Demeter).
And so on....
Even the serpent of Moses became the symbol among the Greeks for medice. This symbol is even used today.

Just wondered if maybe the gods and goddesses that were so connected with humans during those times were actually angels. I do find it strange that they were in existance both before and after the flood. Perhaps the Nephilim on the earth did perish, but the angels did again come down to the daughters to reproduce.

I can see the implication of "Angels" in the above Scripture, but I think that "sons of God" refers to humans of great importance or position.

sons of God could mean either humans or angels, Rod. Rod,The ancient people tried to figure out why there were fossils of gigantic animals. There is a good article in National Geographic for August 2004 about it. It shows a giant mastodont fossil as seen by ancient people. It looks more human instead of the elephant look alike.
Ancient cultures like the Greeks tended to relate stories about monsters living in certain places. When archeolists dig there, they find still many fossils. procreation with angels then became a solution. Also, their death was , they assumed, the product of a giant flood.

Did God really create the world in 7 days? Probably not, though he could if he wanted. The Hebrews were trying to tell a story about how Earth was created, however it doesn't have to be factual.

Right, the Nephilim are the offspring of the "sons of God" and the daughters of the earth. I don't think that sons of God here is referring to human kind, though it could. Other places in scripture we see it in reference to the angels though. What is it about them that made them so mighty and great? How did they survive the flood if they were full human? Man had already been mating with woman for some time, hence the explosion of human population upon the Earth.Is it coincedence or more that Roman Mytholgy (borrowed from the Greeks) used planets (Jupitar, Mars, etc.) to name their gods, and in scripture we see a relation between angels and planets? Jesus said that he was the morning star, which to us would be Venus. Satan swept a third of the stars out of the heavens with his tail. Just thinking mind you.
