Resistance Welding Nickel Plated Steel Tabs to Copper Wire

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I am trying to weld copper wire to nickel plated steel battery terminals. The terminals are about 1mm thick. Can you give some advice on how to do this. Thanks.

What size wire? Is the wire solid or stranded? Are the terminals loose, so you can do an opposed weld? Or are they already attached to the battery? If this is to mass produced, you should consider going to a copper braid.
